[ So you know what Annie was not expecting by and large for Christmas? Anything. Know what she got? Something. Some research showed that thank you notes were considered a polite way of acknowledging gifts, and so here is the note she writes and delivers sometime after Christmas, and before the New Year: ]
Sai - I wanted to thank you for the gift you gave me this past holiday. It was a kind gesture, and is appreciated. I'm not sure how relevant it is as a whole. It's a different sort of ranking system than you find where I'm from. I hope you've been feeling better adjusted to this place and their different expectations.

neither. secretary chases is a leader of her people protecting her interests. until our interests align, i have no reason to cooperate with her.
[Sai thinks refusing to cooperate would make it effectively impossible for their interests to align, given the only bargaining chips they possess are their power and their experience, but he's definitely not anywhere near the point where he can openly question a superior's decision, much less a kage's, so he says nothing on it.]

Not to my knowledge, no. A good many of my... Allies had abstained, and those who hadn't were fortunate in their healing abilities. I feel like Darwinism agrees with my social choices. [A joke? Surely he was taking a little light humor into a dark topic.] But no, I'm not here on behalf of anyone.
